Player of The Week: Night Assailant
Updated: Apr 9, 2019
Night Assailant, or to those who are more familiar with him, James, has been a part of the Astrantia family for a long time. He was one of the first people that were picked up for the original Astrantia roster! During his stay, his main tanking and game awareness have improved vastly, and we couldn't be more proud. This British sweetheart was first a part of the Astrantia roster and now the Anthemis team. Here's his interview!
1: What was it like to be the tank main for Astrantia NA to being a tank main for Anthemis? How has the change to different branches been for you?
When I was tanking for Astrantia NA, I felt it was an eye opening experience meeting all
these amazing people from this team. They built me up from my solo queue mentality to being a better tank player. I then moved over to Anthemis with Fen(edhis) and Kraey where I had already gained alot of knowledge from being on the NA team. I helped Anthemis move forward to the highest possible level we could. Changing over has been a smooth transition for me! I can just finally play on my ping!
2: How has your tank game improved since joining Astrantia? What would you say has been your biggest challenge that you've overcome?
My tank play has improved leaps and bounds from when I joined Astrantia. When I joined I was a very passive Rein main who would stay in chokes and hard shield without making many pushes. However, the more I played with the team and got know and trust them, I became more and more aggressive as the time progressed. I couldn't thank this team enough for how much better I am as a tank main and as a team player overall. The biggest challenge that I overcame was firstly the lack of being aggressive but that was linked too me trusting the people on my team to be able to support me (thanks Whitney (Venus) for the pocket Mercy =P)
3: Would you ever flex to another role if you were ever given the opportunity? Will we be seeing James the healer anytime soon?
I won’t be straying away from the tank role, the heroes I enjoy playing the most are the tanks heroes. I have the most fun when I am playing a tank. I don’t think there will be a surprise healer James anytime soon, but I do enjoy playing Moira and Zen. Who knows what the future games will bring.
4: Name a CGL match or any other tournament match that you feel was one of your favorites, and for what reason.
The game that I thought was very memorable too was one from the CGL tournament we just played in against Wolves Alpha and it was such a close game. It was 1-1 and on the last map on, Temple of Anubis, we got caught early on the first point and they took it with over 7 minutes. We managed to hold until overtime but sadly they just got the kills in the end. We lost, but I had so much fun in that game and that's all that matters in the long run.
5: You are traveling soon to meet with one of Astrantia's founders: Fenedhis, and Kraey of Anthemis. What are you looking forward to the most?
You have no idea how excited I am to meet them! I have known these two since right from the beginning and to have the opportunity to meet them in person is the thing I am looking forward to the most. I get to enjoy some time out of game with them and look forward to all the other things (there might be a little bit of drinking while I am there). Plus this will be the first time I will have ever been on a plane, and the first time ever leaving the UK. I know I will be nervous but once I am there and we have all met up in person everything will be awesome and we will have so much fun.
Updates on James' journey to Finland will be up on our social media in May/June. Next week we'll have another European player interviewed, from the newly formed Anthemis Academy team. Who could it be? 👀
Our final CGL recap is being delayed until tomorrow, since the Apollo vs. Tryhardts match still hasn't occurred. If Apollo takes home a win from this match Astrantia still has chances to make it to playoffs! So naturally we have to cheer for Apollo for this one. 🏹 Tune in for that match tonight at 8pm EST on the CGL1 Twitch channel.
